08:20 - By Anne Maria Holli - News
Our e-mail call for persons willing to serve as Deputy Chair for the next two years resulted in Dr. Lenita Freidenvall (University of Stockholm, Sweden) taking up the challenge, with no additional candidates making themselves known, hence no on-line election took place.
You will find out more about Lenita in the short biographical note to follow. Lenita will ascend to Chair in 2018 after Jennifer Curtin (University of Ackland, New Zealand) who will step in after Anne Maria Holli (University of Helsinki, Finland) in Poznan.
Lenita Freidenvall is Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Political Science at the Department of Political Science, Stockholm University, Sweden, and Co-Director of the Women in Politics Research Network. Her research publications cover the fields of gender politics and public policy in comparative perspective, specialising in political representation, candidate selection and gender quotas. As representative of Stockholm University, Lenita is responsible for the electoral gender quota project (www.quotaproject.org) together with International IDEA and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). In 2014 she was commissioned by the Swedish government to investigate Swedish gender equality politics 2004-2014. She attended her first IPSA Congress in Durban, South Africa in 2003, and has been involved in the RC 19 since then. She believes IPSA is a central arena for the representation and presentation of work by women political scientists across the world and a key forum for addressing and promoting feminist research.
